Organisational structure
The Practice consists of one doctor in partnership with his wife who is his personal assistant and the Practice Administrator. We have a Midwife Practitioner, a Practice Secretary/Receptionist and two more part time Receptionists.
Treatment Provided
The Practice provides childhood and adult vaccines and general medical advice.
There is full referral access for independent blood tests, X-rays, physiotherapy and specialist Consultant opinion and advice.
The needs arise for these services when patients require a second opinion, specialist referral or access to ethical medical care that is not readily available or is subject to lengthy delays via the NHS.
Facilities
The Practice has a large reception and a waiting area with comfortable seating.
There is full central heating and air conditioning, background music and reading material. Leaflets are available giving information about the services which the practice offers along with educational leaflets informing patients about specific medical conditions and vaccines etc.
We take great care to make the environment safe for children and provide books and toys for their use.
The consulting room is fully equipped for medical examinations including ECG. There is an examination couch with a foot stool and screens to ensure patient’s privacy. There are also hand washing facilities.
A further consulting room is available for examination and/or treatment, or recovery/rest if needed.
Two separate toilets with washing facilities and warm air hand drier.
The Practice has the equipment and trained personnel to perform Emergency Resuscitation, and treatment of Anaphylactic reactions, should the need arise.
Consultations about the Organisation
Queries about the practice are usually made by telephone. In the first instance these are handled by the receptionists &/or Mrs Lynn Oakley. If necessary this is followed by Patient Guides &/or other relevant leaflets being sent to the person enquiring. Dr John Oakley will deal with queries personally, if necessary, by telephone or by letter. Contact with Dr Oakley by telephone is usually available on the same day. Appointments can be made with either Dr John or Mrs Lynn Oakley for further Practice information.
